Chrissy Metz Teases Forthcoming Album and ‘This Is Us’ Reunion

Chrissy Metz has a jammed-packed schedule. Before the Hollywood star, turned country hitmaker, appeared at Ty Herndon’s Concert for Love & Acceptance on Wednesday (June 7), she caught up with ET at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe to discuss her upcoming project and to tease a potential This Is Us reunion.

The vocalist admitted that her debut album is currently in the works. Metz explained that she’s pulling inspiration from Music City to cultivate the collection.

“Fingers crossed. It takes a while to make art, y’all,” said Metz about the creative process. “There’s so much talent. In the airport, literally every single person is talented, whether they’re playing an instrument or they’re singing their face off at [Blake Shelton’s] Ole Red. Everybody’s talented here. And everybody’s a songwriter. It’s everywhere. It’s all the time. It’s so exciting. You’re around it all the time. And I feel like it’s a very communal city, which is nice. People like working together.”

The vocalist did not reveal a release date for the full-length album but confirmed that she had just finished a second book with her boyfriend, Bradley Collins, an esteemed songwriter. The two recently celebrated their third anniversary. Metz declared that they work very well together since he’s “very patient.”

“Bless him, I am not,” she said about being patient. “So opposites attract like Paula Abdul said. It’s been very helpful because I get to learn a lot from him.”

Collins also had a hand in her children’s album, Prayed for This Day. The 11-song album includes several faith-centric hymns and “No Matter What,” a collaboration with Runaway June. With her creative wheels in motion on Music Row, Metz admitted that she would take time off to pursue a This Is Us movie.

Metz played Kate Pearson in the emotional series, This is Us, which ran from 2016 to 2022 on NBC. Speculations about a big-screen film began to swirl after Metz met up with her fellow castmates Mandy Moore and Susan Kelechi Watson in Los Angeles in late May.

“I would [be down],” said Metz about the potential reunion. “I’m like, where would it be set?”

She did not confirm or deny the project, saying, “Anything’s possible.”

“I think everybody wants to see it. Every single time I see someone, they’re like, ‘We wish the show was still on.’ I’m like, ‘Me too.’ You know, job security. But I do love the show and everybody involved,” she shared. “I think in 10 years, and we’re all 50-ish, I think that will be cute, a little reunion.”

Until fans can see the Pearson family get back together, they can catch Metz at CMA Fest. She is scheduled to perform on Sunday (June 11) at Fan Fair X – CMA Close Up Stage.
