When Kenny Chesney releases his tenth studio album, Lucky Old Sun in October, he will be following the unique release strategy instituted by the band Sugarland.

On July 22, Sugarland and UMG Nashville released a deluxe fan edition of Love on the Inside which included five bonus tracks, an expanded CD booklet and access to exclusive music videos, all in a specially packaged album for $19.98. The following week, the country music duo released a regular, 12-song edition of their album for $13.98. Following this second release, Sugarland scored the band’s first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 since Nielsen Soundscan tallied sales for both albums as one.

Hoping to follow a similar path of success, Chesney will release a Deluxe Fan Pack of Lucky Old Sun on October 14. This edition will include four live tracks as well as access to videos from his current summer tour. The four live tracks featured on this deluxe fan edition will be “Boston” and “Got A Little Crazy” recorded at his July 26 concert in Boston, and “Soul of a Sailor” and “Guitars and Tiki Bars” recorded at his live show at the Hogs Breath Saloon in Key West on March 2. In addition, two buyers will win a pair of tickets to the opening of Chesney’s tour next year. The following week, Chesney will release a regular, music only version of his album on October 21.

Neither Chesney nor his label BNA, commented on the price difference, if any, between the Deluxe Fan Edition and the regular edition of his album.
