“Not Dead Yet” is available now as a digital download and via streaming services. To accompany the tune, a striking animated music video has debuted at the Kscope label’s official YouTube channel.
The video, which was animated and directed by Mariano Biotico, features imagery inspired by Mexico’s Dia de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) holiday. The surreal clip boasts a variety of female characters donning Dia de los Muertos’ ornate skull-themed face makeup. They include a variety women playing in a rock band, strolling on a city street, and strolling through a graveyard on a moonlit night.
Wynne on the Meaning of “Not Dead Yet”
Wynne wrote the song’s lyrics, inspired a line bandmate Andy Curran came up with for the chorus: “I’m not dead yet, come on along and see what I am good for.”
The singer said she views “Not Dead Yet” as a cathartic anthem that encourages people to be resilient and defiant against the forces that would try to tear you down.
Wynne explained in a statement, “Simply continuing to exist, to create, and to fight is inspiring and powerful. … That’s the heart of the song: keep going and enjoy the ride.”
