Halloween heads rejoice. After a bit of a slow summer for Ryan Adams adoring (save for the periodic bursts of the wunderkind’s power-blogging), Cardinals fans have received a flurry of news this week about new upcoming tour dates, a[nother] new album, and-gasp!-the forthcoming publication of a “collection of prose” from Adams himself.
The new “Cardinals” dates-Adams, in a spot of love for his group, has finally dropped his name from the bill-will see the band trekking across a broad swath of the East Coast and Mid-West after they finish up their supporting dates for Oasis in the Pacific Northwest and Canada next week. After they wrap up in Atlanta on October 17, the band will hop across the pond for a U.K. tour in November (see full dates below). Cardinals ask that all “Summer of ‘69” fans take notice and remove themselves to at least 10 miles away from any venue at the time of performance.
Early reports from the West Coast tour indicate that the band has been rolling out songs from a new album, rumored to be titled Cardinals III/IV and scheduled for a “tentative fall release.” Adams sampled rough cuts of some of the tracks, with titles like “Cobwebs” and “Ever-Green,” on his blog earlier this summer. They have since been taken down.
Finally, Adams announced on his blog today that his “bosses” at Akashic Books have agreed to publish his first book, Infinity Blues, sometime in the near or not-so-near future. Details on the text and its release remain sketchy, but Adams himself reported that he is “so humbled and so proud to be an Akashic Books author” before signing off to “to maybe go take a nap now. bye. xx”
So, as usual, the Lil’ Wayne of Heartbreak overwhelms fans with his output. At least he’s keeping it under three albums this year. So far…
