Artist-curated festivals are all the rage lately, and with the success My Morning Jacket’s members had last weekend with Forecastle Festival in their hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, it’s easy to see why. Down the road, another popular Kentucky band is preparing to give its hometown a musical makeover.
The lineup for the Cage the Elephant-curated Starry Nights Music Festival dropped today and it has some of the biggest names the Bowling Green, Kentucky festival has ever seen.
Joining Cage the Elephant is Manchester Orchestra, Portugal. The Man, Justin Townes Earle, Moon Taxi and more.
Other hometown heroes like Sleeper Agent and Morning Teleportation will also get in on the fun, and more local artists are to be announced.
“We chose bands and DJ’s that move us, and that we thought would fit with the vibe of the festival,” says Cage frontman, Matt Shultz. “Starry Nights is about getting everyone together for a good time – It’s definitely about the music, but also, art, games, and just being out there under the stars.”
The festival will be held September 28 and 29 in Bowling Green. Tickets can be purchased on the festival’s website starting July 20.
