Yesterday’s deal with Iggy Pop places his solo catalog, including hits “Lust for Life,” “I’m Bored,” “Real Wild Child” and “The Passenger, under the control of Bug Music, the current publisher of Iggy’s band, The Stooges. In addition, Iggy’s deal includes ongoing creative collaborations with other Bug Music artists, the first of which features Boss Martians in an E-Trade Superbowl commercial earlier this year.

Speaking about the deal with the Godfather of Punk, Bug Music CEO John Randolph said, “Iggy Pop is a legend in our business and has demonstrated extraordinary creative work over many years. His work with Bug Music will be multi-faceted and we are confident that it will be highly productive for both of us.”
In its second major deal of the day, Bug Music signed Three 6 Mafia to a wide-ranging publishing deal in which members Juicy J and DJ Paul will assist in branding opportunities while also working to develop and produce emerging artists under their new publisher.
Randolph noted that this deal “represents another exciting dimension to the unique business models that we are developing at Bug Music, [where] goal is to make the relationships with our artists as interactive as possible.”
Founded in 1975, Bug Music is the largest independent contemporary music publisher in the world. With the help of new investors and management, Bug Music has grown substantially to become the home for hits by artists such as Johnny Cash, Pete Townshend, Woody Guthrie, Townes Van Zandt, Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon and Wilco.
