Spears turned to social media Thursday evening (May 26) to address the visit. The post did not include a snapshot of the mother-daughter duo together, but it was an old-school photo of Spears in a pink ballerina tutu.
“My sweet mama showed up at my doorstep yesterday after 3 years … it’s been such a long time … with family, there’s always things that need to be worked out … but time heals all wounds !!!” wrote the pop star. “And after being able to communicate what I’ve held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things RIGHT !!! I love 💕 you so much !!!”
Spears continued, “Psss… I’m so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years !!! Let’s go shopping afterwards!!!”
Earlier this week, photos of the two surfaced online—leaving curious fans questioning their status. According to Entertainment Tonight, Lynne was photographed at Los Angeles International Airport before meeting with her daughter’s manager, Cade Hudson. Lynne later took an Uber to the singer’s home.
The reunion marks the first time the two have connected since her public conservatorship. For nearly 13 years, Spears’ finances and personal life has been controlled by her father. Jamie Spears had legal guardianship since 2008 after the “Baby One More Time” artist suffered a mental health crisis. In 2021, Jamie was suspended as a conservator for her finances and was replaced by an accountant.
In November 2021, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny terminated the arrangement. Following the high-profile legal battle, the platinum-selling performer shared a post addressing her family.
Her mother was quick to respond.
“My family to this day honestly have no conscious whatsoever and really believe in their minds they have done nothing wrong at all!!!!” she said in a lengthy caption. “They could at least take responsibility for their actions and actually own up to the fact they hurt me 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ !!!! For me, just a genuine apology would help give me closure, but it honestly blows my mind every day of my life even after what is known what they did to me, they still act as if that’s ok !!!! Their reaction it shows that I don’t have a family that values me or respects me …. AT ALL !!!
Lynne flocked to the comments to issue a public apology.
“I am soooo sorry for your pain! I have been sorry for years! I love you so much and miss you!” shared Lynne. “Please unblock me so I can speak to you in person! Britney, deep down you know how much I love and miss you! I apologize for anything and everything that’s hurt you!”
Lynne played a vital role towards the end of the conservatorship, as she was the one who demanded the court to give Spears her own lawyer. The singer-songwriter hired Matthew S. Rosengart, the attorney that fought for her freedom.
