Seasoned singer/songwriter Brian Dunne joins forces with Caitlin Rose for a heartfelt new rendition of his track “The Kids Are All Grown.” Released today (September 7), the sweeping collaboration puts a new spin on the cut from Dunne’s latest solo record, Loser on the Ropes.

“‘The Kids Are All Grown’ is my favorite song off the Loser on the Ropes record and one that has evolved in its personal meaning for me since I wrote it,” he shares in a statement. “Humans are always resistant to change, but I’m pretty confident that I’m the most resistant. It’s essentially a song about how my inability to accept change is probably just a more subdued version of a childhood temper tantrum at the boardwalk. I don’t want to go home, [and] I don’t want to grow up.

“I wanted to cut a slightly more tender version after the LP came out, to shine a spotlight on the lyrics,” Dunne adds. “I asked Caitlin Rose to come down and sing it with me at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, where we were recording. She has one of those unmistakable voices, and I was really glad she let me borrow it for this song because she is a nice person and because I paid her A LOT of money.”

Recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, the addition of Rose’s emotive, rich vocals infuses a new kind of magic into every reflective line.

The release of this reimagined track comes ahead of Dunne’s debut at AmericanaFest 2023, which kicks off later this month in Nashville. He’ll perform a string of solo dates and performances with his bandmates in the folk supergroup Fantastic Cat through the end of the year.
