According to a press release, the song “explores potential regret, asking all of the lingering questions following a breakup.” Do you ever think about me / And miss the way I looked at you? / And do you ever reach across the sheets / From me like you used to, Young sings in the song’s opening verse.
After posting a clip of the song’s accompanying lyric video on Instagram, Young called it “One of my favorites on the new record.” The lyric video features clips of Young walking along a boardwalk, looking forlorn while “Let Go Too Soon” plays overtop. Check it out, below.
Prior to sharing “Let Go Too Soon,” Young released two tracks titled “Dance With You,” which is currently impacting country radio, and “Back to Jesus.”
The rest of the album is expected to arrive on August 4 via BMLG Records. While gearing up for the record’s release, Young has been out on the road with fellow country singer Sam Hunt. Later this year, Young will embark on a headlining tour dubbed the Dance With You Tour. Check out Young’s remaining tour date for 2023, here.
