This third love is no dead man’s bride. An amalgam (producer/production-wise) of their first and second major efforts, Intimacy baits and beckons with it’s deftly isolated, stacked and touched: rhythms, instruments and vocals tracks. Frontman Kele Okereke’s expanded vocal range and lyrics deliver on the limitations, transgressions, and what’s lamentable and lovely about closeness-and fair enough, connections lost and alienation. This is not a miserly record, despite its mere 10 tracks and just under 44 minutes (like a vinyl LP). A bit of regression, spite and experimentation does not prevent Intimacy from existing as a rock forward record.
