The Independent Music Awards, established in 1999 by Music Resource Group, honors independent musicians from over 70 countries on six continents. Winners and nominees receive opportunities to expand their audience, connect with music industry personnel, and ultimately, build bigger names for themselves.

Winners were selected from over 80 album, EP, song, music producer, music video and design categories. This year, the co-producers Kenny Siegal, Bryce Goggin and Brian Geltner received this inaugural award for the production of the Johnny Society album Free Society, marking the first time the IMAs have honored an album’s producers.

This year’s panel of judges featured artists such as Tom Waits & Kathleen Brennan, Ziggy Marley, Suzanne Vega, Del McCoury, Meshell Ndegeocello, Pete Wentz, Jim Lauderdale and more. The panel also included a variety of music industry gatekeepers, including record label executives, club and festival talent buyers, music journalists and film and TV music supervisors.
