Lavigne, speaking at the awards show, expressed anger at the woman, who was wearing pink pants, no top, and had words written on her torso like “Save the Green Belt” and “Stop Logging and Growth Now.”
The protester, positioning herself as an environmentalist, had blond hair and also wore black shoes and a pink bandana, adding silver heart pasties on her chest.
Lavigne, who was introducing Indo-Canadian musician AP Dhillon during the show in Edmonton, Canada, stopped as the streaker walked around the stage before security was able to apprehend the woman.
Said the “Sk8r Boi” singer to the streaker, “get the fuck off” the stage.
The protest message “Save the Green Belt” is a refrain many can hear these days, an attempt to halt residential development by the Ontario government. According to PEOPLE, the government plans 50,000 new homes on some 7,400 acres of land by 2025 that were formerly protected.
Later in the show, when the 38-year-old Lavigne won the TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award, she said, “Now nobody try anything this time or the Canadian’s gonna come out of me and I’ll fuck a bitch up.”
Lavigne later posted a picture of her with the award on Twitter, writing, “Thanks to my amazing fans for voting for the TikTok Juno Fan Choice Award. This is my 10th Juno Award and 4th Fan Choice Award. Let’s keep rocking and cheers to the next 20 years! P.S. – ‘Get the fuck off bitch!’ @TheJUNOAwards @TikTokCanada“
