Outside of her skill as a songwriter and performer, one of the things that makes fans gravitate to Ashley McBryde is her authenticity. It doesn’t get much more authentic than her Pajama Jams series on social media which strips away the glitz and glam of the stage and the production of the studio. The series features McBryde in comfortable clothes with no makeup, her guitar, and whatever song she feels like sharing at the time. Lately, she has been celebrating her fellow CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Nominees.

This year, McBryde is up against Lainey Wilson, Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, and Megan Moroney for the Female Vocalist of the Year Award at the CMAs. She has been using her recent Pajama Jams installments to share some of her favorite songs from her fellow nominees.

Ashley McBryde Celebrates Her Fellow Nominees
Ashley McBryde kicked off the celebration of her fellow CMA Award nominees last Monday (October 21) with a cover of Kacey Musgraves’ “My House” from her debut album Same Trailer Different Park. “Hey, it’s Pajama Jams, festival style in bus clothes,” she said in the video. “We are celebrating the five women in the female vocalist category,” she added. “Right now, I’m going to do Kacey Musgraves who is one of the most angelic voices we have in country music. And I’m a huge fan of her and her songwriting. So, I’m going to do my favorite,” she said, introducing the song.
McBryde came back a few days later to perform “Mama I Lied” by Megan Moroney. Watch the abbreviated but moving cover below.
Next up, McBryde donned a cowboy hat for her cover of Lainey Wilson’s “4x4xU” from her latest album Whirlwind. The real star of the show, though, was the toy chicken that someone held as they sang harmony just out of frame.
“The redneck heavens just opened wide! Love you, sister!” Wilson commented on the post, showing her appreciation.
McBryde had to change things up for her final installment of the appreciation series. Since it was “past time to be in pajamas,” she sang Kelsey Ballerini’s “I Hate Love Songs” while getting her hair and makeup done.
“This feels like when Kelly Clarkson covers one of my songs,” Ballerini commented. “I then retire it because this version is now the only version that exists. I adore you and can’t wait to see y’all,” she added.
