ASCAP held their 53rd annual Country Music Awards last night at the Omni Hotel in downtown Nashville. The performance rights organization honored a number of the best and brightest in country music, both new and established, during an evening of presentations that also included performances from artists like Lady Antebellum, Reba and Justin Timberlake.
The latter of those was on hand to honor Trisha Yearwood, who took home the coveted Voice of Music Award. Former president Jimmy Carter was on hand to present Yearwood with the award
Other artists in attendance included Garth Brooks, Lee Ann Womack and Kelsea Ballerini.
Top ASCAP Country Music Awards winners included:
- Songwriter of the Year: Ashley Gorley
- Songwriter-Artist of the Year: Sam Hunt
- Song of the Year: “Leave the Night On,” written by Sam Hunt and Josh Osborne, performed by Sam Hunt
- Publisher of the Year: Warner/Chappell Music
