Paula Abdul rose to fame after releasing her debut album Forever Your Girl in 1988. Spending 10 weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart, the album also spawned four No. 1 singles: “Straight Up,” “Forever Your Girl,” “Cold Hearted,” and “Opposites Attract.” In 2002, Abdul enjoyed a career resurgence following her new role as a judge on the reality singing competition show American Idol. Fans enjoyed seeing her play the warm-hearted foil to Simon Cowell’s ruthless critiques. Now, the 62-year-old pop star has shared a health update after injuries forced her to cancel her Straight Up! To Canada Tour last month.

One she has fully recovered, the former American Idol star has every intention of hitting the road again. “I had the best time just coming off this tour and there’s still the rest of the world to see and to be able to perform in front of,” she told Us.
Why Did Paula Abdul Cancel Her Tour?
Abdul planned to kick off the Straight Up! to Canada Tour on Sept. 25 in Victoria, British Columbia, wrapping up Oct. 26. However, she announced in a Sept. 4 social media post that all shows would be canceled as she underwent a “minor procedure.”
“After multiple consultations with my doctors and exploring all available options, I’ve been advised that one of my injuries requires a minor procedure followed by a 6-8 week recovery time, therefore it will prohibit me from proceeding with the Straight Up! To Canada Tour as well as the dates in Alaska and North Dakota,” she wrote.
The American Idol legend extended her “deepest apologies” to fans, adding that refunds would be available at the point of purchase.
“I’ve been looking forward to the energy, love, and connection we always share when we’re together,” she continued. “I promise I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon, to give you the show you deserve.”
