The Allman Brothers Band’s legendary 1971 live album At Filmore East will be available on an expanded six-disc box set on July 29. Universal Music Enterprises and Mercury Records will release The 1971 Filmore East Recordings, produced by Bill Levenson, which includes fifteen unreleased tracks.

The four sets took place on the weekend of March 12-13, 1971, at promoter Bill Graham’s New York club, the Filmore East. The shows were recorded by Tom Dowd of Atlantic Records, who also recorded Layla for Derek & the Dominos. In addition to the four sets from March, the new release will also include a performance from the venue’s closing night, June 27, 1971.

“That weekend in March of ‘71 when we recorded At Fillmore East, most of the time it clicked,” said drummer Butch Trucks. “We were finally starting to catch up with what we were listening to. We had lived together…we got in trouble together; we all just moved as a unit. And then, when we got onstage to play, that’s what it was all about—and it just happened to all come together that weekend.”

The Allman Brothers Band will appear at the Montage Mountain Peach Music Festival in Scranton, Pennsylvania in August and recently announced a six show residency at the Beacon Theater in New York this October.
