New DVD A Hundred Miles or More opens with the perpetually composed Alison Krauss at the mic in The Tracking Room rendering touching acoustic tune “You’re Just a Country Boy” from the CD she released in 2007. Surrounded by the most tasteful musicians in the business, Krauss’ mastery in not only heard, but witnessed live. Such a transparent setting typically either exposes a fraud or proclaims a true pro, and Krauss- the latter- is seen at ease and perfectly in the pocket with world-class players like Ron Block, Sam Bush and Tony Rice. The majority of the DVD’s hour is focused on the music making, but a few candid interviews with Krauss, and with duet partners Brad Paisley and John Waite among others, reveal the reasons behind song choice and collaborations. Special appearances by the songwriters behind such haunting tales as “Jacob’s Dream,” and legend James Taylor, further provide fans with fun extras that the CD didn’t offer.
