The word “prolific” gets thrown around a lot when talking about respected songwriters, but Dan Bern is one of the few artists who truly deserves the distinction. Over the last two decades, the Los Angeles songwriter has released almost two dozen albums and has contributed to countless TV and film projects, including Walk Hard and Get Him to the Greek. Now Bern is on the cusp of releasing Hoody, his latest full-length effort and one of his best to date.

The album, which features guests like Old Crow Medicine Show’s Willie Watson, Bern bandmate and Common Rotation guitarist Eric Kuf and Bern’s own daughter Lulu, plays as tribute to his many influences, which include Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and, of course, the three legends honored in the album’s track “Merle, Hank & Johnny.”

It’s the culmination of what I’ve been aiming at for a long time, and also a jumping off point for everything I’m aiming to do next,” Bern explained in a press release.

We’re happy to premiere Hoody below. Get your own copy of the albumout 9/4 via BFD/RED, here and catch Dan out on the road.
