Renowned singer-songwriter Aimee Mann is preparing to launch a September/October tour that will begin with three nights of performing at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis on September 13th.
Mann’s latest tour will not only include selections from her wide-ranging musical catalog, which began with her first solo album Whatever in 1993, but will feature never-before-heard songs from an upcoming musical she’s been writing. The musical is based on Mann’s 2005 The Forgotten Arm, a concept record which narrates the lives of two complex characters as they fall in love and take a road trip across America.
Combining her established hits and showcasing her newest material, Mann and her three-piece band will make stops along their two-month gig in Chicago, Ann Arbor, Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Nashville, as Mann tries to uphold People Magazine’s acclaim in response to her most recent album, @#%&! Smilers: “trends may come and go, but real artists, like this singer-songwriter remain.”
