Let us be the first (or 300th) publication to tell you that Adele is pregnant with her first child.

The British soul singer and multi-platinum recording artist, whose 2011 album 21 has been lodged in the no. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 for ages, announced the good news on her website. The father is boyfriend (not the bad one) Simon Konecki, co-founder of the British bottled water company Life Water.

“I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together,” she wrote. “I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx.”

Hopefully, this means she’ll follow in the footsteps of pop artists like Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Jay-Z, and will be inspired to write a song about the birth of her baby.
