While wanting nothing more than a chance to sing in front of the judges at American Idol, Abi Carter watched as fate had other plans. Besides getting praise from Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan, the singer also dominated the competition as she eventually walked away at the next American Idol. Although thrilled by her success on the show, it was just the start as Carter spent the last several months performing, writing, and producing. And with no signs of slowing down, the singer recently released her new single “Peppermint Sky.”

With fans filling the comment section, many praised her efforts and voice. “Your piano playing is stunning .. this is like a music box / so dreamy…if you ever wanted to do a full acoustic version I would buy it too.” Another comment read, “The adlibs on the final chorus are SOOOO gorgeous! would love to hear a version w the full thing without the fade-out effect at the end! great song tho, your lyricism on this was so strong!”
Still navigating the music industry, Carter discussed the whirlwind that followed her after her American Idol victory. She told the Desert Sun, “I immediately went to New York and I was there for a few days. Then I came back for a few days, and then I was in Nashville for a bit. Then I came back for a few days and then went back to Nashville and came back.” She continued, “Then went to Minneapolis and went to Texas and now I’m back. It’s kind of been a whirlwind. There’s not been a lot of time to breathe, but I’m doing what I love and that makes up for (it).”
Recalling the small amount of vacation she had, Carter concluded, “I think that my vacation was that little week in New York when we were doing different press things (for ‘American Idol’). But I went to Nashville, met with record labels … and then in Minneapolis, I was performing for the Olympic trials and had a lot of fun doing that. Then I spent time with my family in Dallas.”
