This week, indie rock icons Death Cab for Cutie did exactly what indie rock icons “don’t do,” by claiming the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 200 album list for their latest effort, Narrow Stairs. Their eighth album and second major label release,Narrow Stairs, is the first to go No. 1, selling 144,000 copies its first week. Their previous effort (and first for labelAtlantic), Plans, sold 90,000 copies upon release and remained on the charts for an impressive 50 weeks.
