“‘Sister Sara’ is an observation of the human condition; the mortal body which delights in instant gratification, and the soul or spirit which is trying its hardest to remain steadfast for a certain purpose,” vocalist Lauren Coleman tells American Songwriter. “The body, Sara, sneaks out at night making excuses and tries to convince the spirit, her ‘sister’ that she will be coming back. The ‘sister’ however, tries to remind Sara that the joy she feels from these behaviors isn’t real joy and, sadly, as I believe the soul does when it goes ignored for too long, it becomes dormant — or ‘sleeps.’ It’s an ongoing struggle without any real resolve.”
