Imeem, the ad-supported, streaming video and music social network, bagged another big one last Friday a deal was struck with Universal Music Group. Earlier this year, imeem forged licensing agreements with Warner Music Group, Sony BMG and EMI. The social network boasts over 19 million users per month.
Few of the nitty-gritty details of the agreement between UMG and imeem were released, but the deal will most likely include a payment per stream plan and possibly a “minimum per play” plan for UMG.
The deal signals another leap forward for imeem, now having all four majors on board, but also the music industry’s growing confidence in these social networks to provide viable revenue and promotion of their artists.
