‘The Voice’ Finalist Sofronio Vasquez Can’t Be Stopped With This Phenomenal Sia Cover

Sofronio Vasquez set himself apart from his competitors on The Voice during his dazzling Blind Audition performance of Mary J. Sofronio Vasquez Hits the Mark With Sia Performance

With his bone-chilling performance of Elvis Presley’s “If I Can Dream,” Sofronio Vasquez became the first-ever Filipino contestant to reach a season finale on The Voice. And with his Monday (Dec. 9) performance of Sia’s “Unstoppable,” he may be poised to become the show’s first Filipino winner.

The Utica, New York resident later returned to the stage to perform “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman.

During the Battle Rounds, Vasquez came out on top after duetting with Aliyah Khaylyn on Jennifer Rush’s “The Power of Love.” He moved on to the Knockouts, where he then bested Kiara Vega and Jeremy Beloate in a three-way performance of “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” by Dusty Springfield. (Coach Snoop Dogg immediately snatched up Beloate, who joins his former Team Bublé artist in the Top 5.)

Vasquez again advanced after a flawless Playoffs performance of Roy Orbison’s “Crying,” despite having never heard the song “even once.” He drew on memories of his late father, saying, “This song talks about heartbreak, and when I sing this song, I think of the thing my mom felt when she lost my dad.”

The 32-year-old crooner has amassed an army of fans that he will likely carry into the future regardless of Tuesday’s (Dec. 10) outcome.

“I truly like all the remaining contestants, particularly Shye and Jeremy, but if Sofronio doesn’t win this season, I might break my TV,” one viewer wrote on X/Twitter. “That man is putting every ounce of his soul into winning this competition.”

Vasquez Praises Coach Michael Bublé

With Shye and Sofronio Vasquez representing him in the finale, Michael Bublé has decent odds of winning his first-ever coaching season on The Voice. Both Top 5 finalists sang the “Feeling Good” crooner’s praises during a recent interview with People magazine.

“Michael as a coach and as a mentor is so genuine, and that makes me feel that I am home even if I am super, super far away from home,” Vasquez said. “He’s making sure that I am home with him.”
