Taylor Swift Thanks Fans for “Wonderful Experience” as “Eras” Tour Draws to a Close

Taylor Swift has truly leveled up with her record-shattering “Eras” Tour. Since kicking off in March 2023, Swifties have converged on 54 cities across five continents to laugh, sob and scream together. Tonight (Sunday, Dec. 8,) the unparalleled musical event will finally reach its conclusion at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia. The end of the “Eras” Tour is dredging up all sorts of mixed emotions for the Swiftie fandom—including the “Shake It Off” singer herself. Onstage last night (Saturday, Dec. 7) in Vancouver, Swift chose to lean into gratitude.

“So Make the Friendship Bracelets”

“You’re On Your Own, Kid” is easily the most personal track on Taylor Swift’s 2022 album Midnights. Fans believe the song takes a hard look at Swift’s personal life and behind-the-scenes struggles during her meteoric rise to fame. “YOYOK” (as stylized by Swifties) ends on a hopeful note: So make the friendship bracelets / Take the moment and taste it / You’ve got no reason to be afraid.

Swifties took this line to heart, making and swapping friendship bracelets at the “Eras” Tour. More than a musical event, “Eras” has transformed “a football stadium, typically a center of male aggression, into a sanctum of gleeful femininity,” wrote the New Yorker’s Tyler Foggatt.

Taylor Swift: “I Never Wanted It to End”

During her Saturday (Dec. 7) stop in Vancouver, Taylor Swift called her longest tour to date “the most fun, joyful, exciting, intense, powerful and wonderful tour I have ever done.”

“I’ve never played this many shows on a tour before, and it’s just ’cause I really never wanted it to end, because you guys have made it into such a wonderful experience for all of us on stage,” she said.

Swift continued, “Like, I wrote one line in a song that mentions ‘make the friendship bracelets,’ and I show up to the first show of the Eras Tour, and you guys made friendship bracelets. You’re trading friendship bracelets, you’re making friends, and now, I feel like, friendship bracelets, you’ve kinda made that idea synonymous with the Eras Tour.”
