4 One-Hit Wonders That Only ’90s Kids Will Remember (And Maybe Not Even Them)

One-hit wonders were all the rage in the 1990s and early 2000s. In a way, ‘90s kids got a bigger dose of one-hit wonders than most generations did. With so many to make it big and fade away, quite a few of those solitary hits have faded from the masses’ collective memory. Why don’t we refresh it with a list of four iconic one-hit wonders from that era that you may have forgotten? Some of these songs are killer jams that have aged pretty well!

1. “Steal My Sunshine” by Len

Alternative rock was still in its golden era in 1999, and this Canadian dance-pop alt-rock tune from Len became a smash hit that year. “Steal My Sunshine” was featured in the comedy Go, which definitely pushed its popularity on the radio. The song made it to no. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart that year, but Len never saw nearly as much success again.

2. “Crush” by Jennifer Paige

If you had a crush on someone in the late 1990s, you probably included this track on the mixtape you made for the apple of your eye. “Crush” by Jennifer Page was an almost stereotypical teen bop from 1998, but one can’t deny that it’s a pretty addicting song. Sadly for Paige, she never saw quite as much success on the charts again.

3. “One Headlight” by The Wallflowers

This pop-rock track is one of those one-hit wonders that ‘90s kids might remember, especially if you were into alternative rock at the time of its release in 1997. “One Headlight” by The Wallflowers got a lot of airplay and made it to no. 1 on all of Billboard’s rock airplay charts as well as no. 2 on the Hot 100 chart.

Songs like “The Difference” and “Heroes” made it pretty close, but sadly, nothing reached the charting success of “One Headlight”. Though, The Wallflowers have secured a few hits over the years on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart. We’ll leave it up to you to decide if this is a true one-hit wonder.

Fun fact: The Wallflowers were led by Jakob Dylan, who happens to be Bob Dylan’s son.

4. “He Loves U Not” by DREAM

One-hit wonders were everywhere at the turn of the century, and some ‘90s kids may have forgotten about this hit song from short-lived girl group DREAM. They only lasted for a few years before disbanding in 2003, and “He Loves U Not” was their only chart-topping hit.

The song made it to no. 2 on the Hot 100 chart, but even songs like “This Is Me” and “Crazy” couldn’t make it to the Top 10 like “He Loves U Not” did.
