98-year-old Dick Van Dyke is still spry, sharp, and full of spark. He recently proved that to be more than true in his recent appearance in Coldplay’s long-form music video for their newest song “All My Love.” The music video is a celebratory homage to Van Dyke’s personal life and illustrious career. Which, if you’re familiar with Van Dyke, you know he is one of the most iconic figures of the 20th century.

In the video, you can watch Van Dyke dance barefoot, sing duets with Chris Martin, and perform his awfully familiar slapstick physical comedy. It’s a treat and reminds someone that age, despite popular belief, seemingly resides merely in the mind. And we aren’t the only one who agrees with that statement, as Dick Van Dyke commented on the matter for his music video appearance.
Dick Van Dyke “Could Go Any Day Now”
In a few pieces of footage, the music video shows pictures and videos from some of Van Dyke’s career highlights. Van Dyke said in the footage, “I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now, but I don’t know why, it doesn’t concern me, I’m not afraid of it” and “I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual, that I’m going to be alright.”
In the video, Van Dyke is living his best life. Dancing alongside his wife, Arlene Silver, the two embark on an ambitious dance number and are then joined by the rest of their family. Regarding both the dance number and his career, Van Dyke noted how fortunate he is to live the life he has lived. “I think I’m one of those lucky people who got to do for a living what I would have done anyway,” said Van Dyke. He added, “When you think how lucky I am – I got to do what I do, play and act silly.”
The music video is nothing short of heartwarmingly inspiring. Additionally, a shorter rendition of the music video will come out on Friday, December 13, to celebrate Van Dyke’s 99th birthday.
