Mariah Carey Christmas Concert Descends Into Chaos as Fans Brawl

Mariah Carey dropped the instantly iconic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” 30 years ago, in October 1994. Since then, no department-store radio station has been safe from Carey’s five-octave range. The song has become synonymous with twinkling lights and last-minute holiday shopping. However, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” recently became the backdrop to quite a different scene when a fight erupted among the crowd at Carey’s Christmas concert.

Fans Throw Hands As Mariah Carey Sings Signature Christmas Song

To celebrate three decades of “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” the pop star embarked on her biggest holiday tour to date, Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time, on Nov. 6. Unfortunately, the mood was far from jolly during a Nov. 29 stop at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.

Video footage currently circulating on social media shows a brunette woman pushing a blonde woman in the row in front of her, causing her to stumble. The blonde woman apparently retaliated by tossing her drink onto the other concertgoer, who then smacked her in the face.

Two men also got involved, one of them apparently trying to break up the fight. In the background, Carey belts her beloved Christmas anthem as performers decked out in red dance onstage—making for a jarring juxtaposition.

“Absolutely Unhinged:” Twitter Reacts to Christmas Concert Brawl

As footage of the incident began going viral, many fans remarked on the absurdity of a fight breaking out while Mariah Carey performs arguably the most Christmassy song of all time. “….oh, don’t you just love the holidays,” one X/Twitter user commented sarcastically.

“I’m sorry but you have to be absolutely unhinged to fight at a Mariah Carey holiday concert,” another X/Twitter user wrote. “In that festive atmosphere with all that holiday joy in the air and you’re throwing hands? Lock them up.”
