Current Dead & Company Lineup
Dead & Company’s current lineup features founding Grateful Dead singer/guitarist Bob Weir and longtime drummer/percussionist Mickey Hart, as well as singer/guitarist John Mayer, bassist Oteil Burbridge, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, and drummer Jay Lane.
Burbridge previously was a member of the Allman Brothers Band. Chimenti and Lane both have played in Weir’s solo side groups RatDog and Wolf Bros.
Founding Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann had also been an original member of Dead & Company, but stopped touring with the latter band in 2023.
Recent Grateful Dead News
Weir, Hart, and Kreutzmann revealed in a recent interview with CBS Mornings that they had been planning to reunite with founding Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh to celebrate the group’s 60th anniversary in 2025 before Lesh’s death in October.
It’s speculated that the three members may still get together in some form to mark the anniversary.
Weir, Hart, and Kreutzmann are expected to be on hand when The Grateful Dead receives some prestigious honors in the coming months.
On December 8, the band will be among the cultural luminaries saluted at the 2024 Kenndey Center Honors in Washington, D.C.
Then, this January, the Grateful Dead will be celebrated at the MusiCares organization’s 2025 Persons of the Year gala. The event traditionally features various well-known artists performing in tribute to the honorees, who also often take part in the show.
