Ashley McBryde’s CMA Country Christmas performance is not something entirely foreign to her. Between appearing on stage at this year’s CMA Awards and being one of the hottest country stars of 2024, McBryde’s appearance on the Christmas special is not a surprise whatsoever and is rather familiar to her. What is also familiar to her is who she will be performing with.

The 15th Annual CMA Country Christmas will be hosted by second-time hosts, Trisha Yearwood and Amy Grant. Although, those aren’t the only two acts of the night with a history and chemistry. In addition to Grant and Yearwood, Ashley McBryde and Brittney Spencer of The Highwomen have known each other for quite some time. And as a result, they have quite an affinity for one another as friends and performers.

Tonight, McBryde and Spencer will share the stage to sing the Christmas hit, “Man With the Bag.” Regarding her performance, McBryde stated, “When I found out I [get] to collab, I was immediately excited and curious as to who I would get to sing with” and “It’s Brittney Spencer. I could not be more excited. She got pipes,” McBryde shared in a pre-performance interview.
McBryde added, “Brittney and I, generally, when we’re at an event, we are either sharing a dressing room or dressing rooms right next to each other” and “We perform right before or right after one another, so rarely do we get to watch each other perform.”
Given the fact that the two have so often been in the same space but never at the same stage, this collaboration means the world to McBryde. “So tonight, not only do we get to watch each other perform, we get to perform together,” concluded McBryde.
Thanks to the history and anticipation leading up to this performance, expect Ashley McBryde and Brittney Spencer to rock the stage with their rendition of Kay Starr’s Christmas hit, “Man With the Bag.”
