Dancing has always been in D’Amelio’s blood and she’s shown that through her 10 years of competitive dance experience. Her ability to dance has not only garnered a mass following on social media but also secured her a spot on New York City’s biggest stage, Broadway. Charli D’Amelio is currently making her Broadway debut in the musical comedy, & Juliet.
Luckily, D’Amelio got to show the rest of New York City and the world her dancing talents. As she took on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Macy’s “Tom Turkey” float, dancing to “Danke Schoën.” Dancing in front of the float, D’Amelio was fervent, swift, and decadent and provided the parade with an atmospheric touch of Generation Z. D’Amelio’s performance was something that the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has not seen in quite some time.
Charli D’Amelio Opens Up About Broadway
D’Amelio did get the chance to perform on one of NYC’s biggest stages at this year’s parade. However, she has consistently been performing on another major NYC stage as Charmian in & Juliet at the Sondheim Theatre. D’ Amelio made her debut just a few weeks before her parade performance on October 29.
When speaking with Playbill about her Broadway debut, D’Amelio said, “I’m loving every second of it” and “You’re learning so much and working so hard, but at the same time everyone in these rooms is just so excited to be there.” Regarding her character, Charmian, D’Amelio stated, “It’s been really incredible to each day dive deeper into my character.” “There is something so special in having your own identity and being able to play that throughout every part of the show,” added D’Amelio.
Needless to say, her brief Broadway experience and extensive competitive dance background prepped her perfectly for her Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade debut. Macy’s and the masses would surely like to see D’Amelio on another float next year.
