Rock Icon Lou Gramm Is (Almost) Ready To Call It Quits: “That’s Gonna Be It for Me”

While exploring a solo career that continues today, Lou Gramm also helped fashion one of the most iconic bands in the music industry. During the 1970s, Gramm joined forces with musicians like Al Greenwood and Mick Jones to create Foreigner. Throughout the following decades, the band sold over 80 million albums and ended up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For Gramm, his career continued as he eventually gained entry into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Still, at 74 years old, the singer continues to perform. But according to Gramm, 2025 might be the year he retires.

Speaking with Sirius XM’s Eddie Trunk, Gramm hinted at the future and his plans on retiring. The idea of retiring isn’t new to the singer as he discussed the idea several times over the last few years. But according to him now, “I’m releasing a solo album in January, which I can’t wait for it to hit the airways. I think I’m going to go [tour] until May or June of next year and then I’m going to go off the road. And that’s gonna be it for me.”

Lou Gramm Shares What Life Will Look Like After Retirement

Having dedicated his life to music, Gramm shared what he wanted to do with his life after stepping off the stage for the last time. And apparently, the singer wanted to spend time with his daughter and even his cars. “I’m a classic and muscle car collector. I’ve got a small but awesome collection of cars. And I live in a place in Rochester, New York where you can’t drive them year round. It’s April through the end of October and then you’ve got to put them away some place. And April through October is when I’m usually on the road, so I don’t get to drive them before we go on the road, and by the time we come off, the snow’s flying.”

Not ready to retire just yet, Gramm prepared for the release of his latest album. Giving fans a taste of what they can expect, the singer said, “Half of my new album is brand new songs and the other half is songs that were great ideas but not finished enough to be on my earlier albums.”
