Throughout his time in country music, Sturgill Simpson showcased his musical talents when releasing hit songs like “Long White Line” and “You Can Have the Crown.” At the same time, he released several studio albums with his last, Passage du Desir, hitting shelves back in July. With the release of his eighth studio album, the country singer decided to also reveal his alter ego, Johnny Blue Skies. No matter which name he goes by, Simpson recently stopped his concert to address fans who decided to start fighting.

While performing in front of thousands of fans, most singers have the ability to see much more than people believe. Performing at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Simpson spent over three hours performing for the crowd. And in that amount of time, he covered 36 songs as he took fans on a journey through his discography. But during one song, the singer stopped the performance to address some unruly fans in the crowd. “Hey hey hey! We’re here to have a good time. Chill the f**k out.”

Sturgill Simpson Covers “Midnight Rider”
After gaining support from fans, Simpson went to continue his concert before once again addressing the crowd, joking, “One a**hole at a time, and right now it’s my turn. So chill out… you don’t wanna see me go all Axl Rose and jump off this stage.” Besides taking on crowd control duties, Simpson offered a surprise cover of Allman Brothers Band’s “Midnight Rider”, which made its way online.
Fans praised Simpson over the performance with one person writing, “This was my favorite part of the show. He killed this cover.” Another fan added, “So glad I could witness this perfection.”
Outside of his concert, Simpson opened up about the past couple of years and how he thought performing was behind him. He explained to his fans, “This is pretty cool because there was a time where I wasn’t sure if I’d ever do this again. I’m not going to lie to you… the last couple years have been pretty damn dark. But here we are.” Never forgetting those who helped him along the way, he insisted, “I’m lucky to have the best band I’ve ever played with, and I wanna thank all of you.”
