While exploring a career in country music, Joshua Ray Walker learned he had Stage 3B colon cancer. The singer shared the news with his fans back in September. At the same time, he underwent surgery that involved doctors needing to drill into his ribs and remove a section of his lung. Having his lung stitched back together and inflated once again, Walker continued to keep fans in the loop about his recovery. And although it has been over a month since the country singer shared any news, he recently offered a positive update.

Posting a picture of himself on Instagram, Walker recalled how much stress came with his cancer battle which led to him needing to “clear” his tour calendar. Thankfully, he continued to perform. “ With the help of my hometown fans, I was able to play sold out monthly solo shows at the Kessler Theater in Dallas, TX. It’s been an extremely difficult time, but these shows have helped me stay positive, creative, and kept my lights on!”

Joshua Ray Walker Wants Nothing More Than To Perform Once Again
With his fans right behind him, encouraging the singer through the difficult times, Walker explained how much he missed performing. “I’m building back my strength, and the best way I can think to get ready for touring again is to get back to the basics. I’ve missed the road so much, and I can’t think of a better way to start than to take this one man show I’ve been working on to the Texas Triangle. I’ll be playing some of my favorite honky-tonks and listening rooms in Texas, and I hope you’ll join me for a night of stories and songs.”
Wanting nothing more than to get back to the stage and share his songs with the world, Walker didn’t shy away from the pain. “Recovery from the lung surgery I had a month ago has been more difficult than I anticipated.”
With Walker on the road to recovery, he promised some good news. “I have a great update coming about my current health and cancer battle. I’m going to update y’all later this week after I have a few more days to process the good news. Thank you for your continued support. See ya soon, and ‘Thank You For Listening’!”
