Jelly Roll Wants To Make Good With the People He Once Robbed: “I Really Want To Have a Conversation With Them”

One of Jelly Roll’s most admirable traits is his vulnerability. Since his career launched, Roll has been entirely transparent about his journey from convicted felon to country music star. In addition to his honesty, Roll has used his past as a platform to spread awareness and help juveniles across the country through his multiple initiatives and foundations. Despite all he has done for this movement, his journey of self-redemption is far from over.

Recently, Jelly Roll appeared on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast and spoke candidly about his journey and how there is still work left to do. To Roll, it seems the work never ends. That being so, Roll and Shetty went into great detail about what he would do if he ever came across the people he robbed. In moments of honesty and candidness, Roll yet again shed another iron-clad layer and revealed exactly what he would want from the moment. Both educational and real, the conversation once again proves that Roll’s heart is bigger than his celebrity status.

If Jelly Roll Were To Meet His Robbery Victims…

When Shetty asked Roll about what he would say to the people he robbed, he seemingly opened an idea Roll had been toiling with for quite some time. Roll shared with him, “I really want to have a conversation with them” and “I just don’t even know how that would start.”

The confusion Roll has about getting the ball rolling comes as a result of his surge of fame in the last few years. Roll confessed to Shetty, “Sometimes I wonder if they might have even seen me in passing or are aware of my success.” It is a unique situation and one that people in this predicament probably haven’t had to deal with before. Nonetheless, Roll wants the same thing as anybody else in this situation seemingly would, as he stated, “I would just ask them to understand.”

Roll added, “I would ask them to just, one, forgive me, because there’s no excuse in that.” Not all Roll wants from his victims is a bit of sympathy and grace, as he also sheds light on the wrongdoings he committed. “The first accountability is, no matter how old I was, I had no business taking from anybody” and “Just the entitlement that I had. This, the world owed me enough that I could come and take your stuff.”

Whether or not this hypothetical ever happens, it seems Jelly Roll is prepared for it. Matter of fact, it seems he wants it to happen both for the victims and himself.
