“Best Vocalist Ever”: Kelly Clarkson’s Foreigner Performance Has Fans Ready to Induct Her Into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Back in 2002, Kelly Clarkson gained a place on American Idol. At the time, she wanted nothing more than to win, which she did. But life had other plans for Clarkson as she went on to sell over 45 million albums, win three Grammy Awards, and host her own show. Navigating both Hollywood and the music industry, Clarkson watched as her stardom and dreams went nuclear. And getting a chance to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in honor of Foreigner, it appears that fans can barely contain their excitement.

With the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony honoring legends like Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, and Foreigner, the night featured numerous covers from Dave Matthews Band, Sammy Hagar, Demi Lovato, and Dua Lipa. But when it came to Clarkson taking the stage, the entire room went silent as she performed “I Wanna Know What Love Is.” Having performed the song in the past, she felt right at home.

While gaining a standing ovation from those in attendance, online, fans couldn’t contain their love and praise for Clarkson. “I’m pretty sure @kellyclarkson is the best vocalist. Ever. She performed ‘I Wanna Know What Love Is’ with @ForeignerMusic and was incredible. Especially when she sang with  Lou Gramm.” Another person added, “Kelly Clarkson just blew the roof of this place. WOW.” And if that wasn’t enough, “Holy s**t. Kelly Clarkson just killed that!! I need that tribute to Foreigner on repeat..”

What It Takes For Kelly Clarkson To Enter The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Having produced albums like Breakaway and Stronger, the idea of Clarkson making it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not a wild idea. But what does it take for an artist to land in the Rock Hall? According to Britannica, “Musicians become eligible for induction into the hall of fame 25 years after the release of their first recording. The foundation’s nominating committee, made up of rock historians, selects nominees each year in the performer category, who are then voted upon by an international body of some 500 rock experts.”

Searching through Clarkson’s discography, the singer released her first album, Thankful, back in 2003. That would make her eligible for the Rock Hall in 2028. But again, hitting the years is not the hard part as the committee holds the final decision.

For those who might have missed the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the event can be streamed on Disney+.
