The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2024 induction ceremony is on October 19, and Ozzy Osbourne spoke highly of those honoring him ahead of the event. Osbourne is adding a second induction to his list of accolades, the first being with Black Sabbath. A host of friends and fellow artists will be on hand to celebrate the milestone.

Jack Black has the honor of officially inducting Osbourne. Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenen of Tool, and Jelly Roll will perform a medley of Osbourne’s work, with Zakk Wylde, Wolfgang Van Halen, Steve Stevens, and producer Andrew Watt on guitar. Robert Trujillo of Metallica will play bass, with Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums. Adam Wakeman—frequent Osbourne collaborator—rounds out the patchwork band on keys.
Meanwhile, Ozzy Osbourne has been singing praises for all those involved in the induction. Speaking with Rolling Stone, he said of Jelly Roll, “Who doesn’t love Jelly Roll? His voice is soulful, pure, and dirty. I’m so honored that someone would do this for me who I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting.”

Osbourne also had high regard for Trujillo and Smith. “The rhythm section is the anchor of the band,” he said, adding, “and you honestly couldn’t get a better rhythm section than Robert Trujillo and Chad Smith.”
Billy Idol, a legend in his own right, earned complementary remarks from Osbourne as well, as he urged the Rock Hall to induct Idol. “Billy Idol is a rock icon. His music is timeless. Billy Idol should be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame,” Osbourne said. Of Maynard James Keenan, who is a member of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer, there were more words of praise. “Maynard has been a true family friend since 1997,” said Osbourne. “He is such a creative force. There are few artists who can keep three successful bands going for multiple decades.”
The ceremony also honors Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Kool & The Gang, and A Tribe Called Quest. In the Music Excellence category are Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield, with Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Big Mama Thornton in the Musical Influence category.
