Following her collaboration with Rosalía on “New Woman,” Blackpink’s Lisa returns with “Moonlit Floor.”

The title of Lisa’s dreamy new single is taken from Sixpence None the Richer’s massive ’90s hit “Kiss Me.” Also, the K-pop star recycles the Sixpence hook, transforming the jangly earworm into an international dance floor anthem.
Under the Paris Twilight
A green-eyed French boy has Lisa trippin’ and smitten. She’s infatuated by how he speaks her name, and his kisses inspire the singer to interpolate an old song.
I’ma need to hear you say it out loud
’Cause I love it when my name slips out your mouth
Love it when your eyes caress my body
Right before you lace your kisses on me
Matt Slocum from Sixpence None the Richer receives a songwriting credit alongside Jessie Reyez and Ryan Williamson. Also, the track shares its synth-disco feel with Sabrina Carpenter’s summer hit “Espresso.”
There She Goes
“Moonlit Floor” borrows its hook from “Kiss Me,” which became a crossover hit for Slocum’s band in 1998. The swoony tune has endured as a familiar piece of ’90s pop culture. It was the theme song of the 1999 rom-com She’s All That, and it also inspired the world’s biggest pop star. Taylor Swift told Vogue “Kiss Me” was the first song she learned to play on guitar.
Kiss me under the Paris twilight
Kiss me out on the moonlit floor
Kiss me under the Paris twilight
So kiss me
Slocum’s lyrics were changed to reflect Lisa’s love of Paris. But the starry-eyed milky twilight of the original fits the innocence that made the song so endlessly endearing. It sounds like The Sundays but with singer Harriet Wheeler’s Bristol croon filtered through Leigh Nash’s Texas roots.
Kiss me beneath the milky twilight
Lead me out on the moonlit floor
Lift your open hand, strike up the band
And make the fireflies dance, silver moon’s sparkling
So kiss me
Global Citizen
On September 28, Lisa debuted “Moonlit Floor” in New York City at the Global Citizen Festival. The event aims to persuade global governments to support anti-poverty programs, care for the Amazon rainforest, and widen access to healthy food, health care, and education.
Post Malone, Doja Cat, Rauw Alejandro, and Jelly Roll also performed at the concert in Central Park. Host Hugh Jackman said of the event, “For over a decade, Global Citizen has driven life-saving impact for nearly 1.3 billion people around the world, and we’ll gather once again on September 28 to help end extreme poverty, defend the planet, and demand equity. I can’t wait to see you all on Central Park’s Great Lawn to collectively call for change on behalf of the world’s most vulnerable communities.”
Blackpink
Lisa was born in Thailand and debuted with the South Korean girl group Blackpink in 2016. Her first solo album Lalisa arrived in 2021 and the single “Money” became an international hit.
She returned three years later with “Rockstar,” a hyperpop single produced by Ryan Tedder and Sam Homaee. Since 2016, Blackpink has been the world’s biggest girl group. The bandmates have each released solo albums, and “Rockstar” is Lisa’s first release after signing with RCA.
With “Moonlit Floor,” Lisa introduces “Kiss Me” to a new generation.
