The only thing more legendary than Ozzy Osbourne’s music and stage antics is his substance use. There are countless stories of the hard-partying rocker being out of his mind on various hard drugs in his youth. More recently, though, he followed in the footsteps of his son, Jack, and got clean and sober. He walked away from booze and hard drugs for years. However, in a recent podcast, he revealed that he’s still smoking pot every now and then.

Last month during an episode of Madhouse Chronicles Osbourne and co-host Billy Morrison discussed their long histories with substance abuse. Osborne said that he is happier now than when he was using. However, he revealed that he’s not completely sober. “I use a bit of marijuana from time to time,” he said.

During the episode, Osbourne said he has his wife/manager Sharon and Alcoholics Anonymous to thank for getting him off the hard stuff. “I’m lucky. My wife kicked my butt all the time. She would fu–ing make life so difficult. Even the marijuana, she’ll fu—ing find it and get rid of it,” he said. “A.A. is a 12-step program. It got me sorted out to a certain degree. I don’t go to meetings myself anymore. Maybe I should. I don’t know,” he added later in the conversation.
Ozzy Osbourne Isn’t Looking Back
Just because Ozzy Osbourne enjoys a bit of the sweet leaf now and then doesn’t mean that he is going to go back to using other substances. During the conversation, Billy Morrison brought up microdosing. In recent years, taking small doses of magic mushrooms or ketamine for mental or physical health purposes has become popular. Osbourne is not a fan.
“I went to a doctor recently ‘cause somebody I know very well started doing this ketamine,” he said. “He put a tiny bit in me but that was enough to spark me. That feeling, that thing came back, that weight in my brain, waiting for something to go ‘Bing,” he added. “They don’t make smack-lite.”
Osbourne also shared some advice. “The message is, if you’re out there and you’re using dope and you want to get off, there’s plenty of help. If you’re out there using drugs and you’re having the blast of your life, my hat goes off to you. But I guarantee—and I don’t give a f—k who it is—it will bite you in the balls.”
