“Is That John Denver?” Willie Nelson’s Son Joins Forces With Sierra Ferrell for “One of the Best Covers” Ever

Before finding her footing in country music, Sierra Ferrell struggled to find her place in the world. Growing up in West Virginia, Ferrell watched as the opioid epidemic spread throughout the beautiful mountains of the state. With little money, Ferrell eventually left her home state to travel the country, often needing to hitchhike or jump on trains to make it to the next city. While never forgetting where she came from, Ferrell now explores a promising career in country music. And besides expanding her career, the singer once performed at Delfest alongside Lukas Nelson

Although both singers produced hit songs throughout their careers, the duo decided to cover Adele’s hit song “I Wish Nothing But The Best For You.” While not a country song, the mesmerizing harmony between Lukas and Ferrell produced a performance that became Delfest history.

Gaining thousands of views, fans gushed over the performance, writing, “Lukas Nelson & Sierra Ferrell is my dream collaboration. I hope to see an album from you both.” Another person added, “This is one of the best covers I’ve ever heard! Sierra Ferrell Left West Virginia To Save Her Life

Outside of sharing the stage with Lukas Nelson, Ferrell discussed her time trying to break into country music and her need to leave her home to save her life. Speaking with CBS News, she said, “I left because I feel like I’ve always had this wild side to me. And I knew that if I stayed there, I probably wouldn’t still be alive. And so, I left and searched for maybe myself, maybe to find out what else there is, maybe even a reason to live.”

Recalling the first time she hitchhiked, Ferrell revealed, “The very first person that picked us up, he pulled out this knife that was in a sheath and he handed it to me, and he is like, ‘Take this with you. You’re going to need it.’”

While hitching rides and jumping on trains isn’t for everyone, Ferrell insisted, “It felt like I was an outlaw. I felt more free.”
