Scorpions have hit a string of bad luck in 2024. The German hard rock legends had to bow out of a Mexico City show in March after frontman Klaus Meine underwent “complex spinal surgery.” Now, the band has canceled all scheduled September dates as lead guitarist Matthias Jabs recovers from a nasty fall.

Matthias Jabs Hopes to Return To The Stage Soon
Matthias Jabs joined Scorpions in 1978, replacing departing lead guitarist Uli Roth. The band dropped their commercial breakthrough, Lovedrive, the next year.
Jabs took to the band’s official Facebook page Wednesday (Sept. 4) morning to explain why Scorpions are canceling six shows in their home country of Germany. The 68-year-old guitarist shared a photo of himself in a wheelchair sporting casts on his left hand and foot.
“Dear fans and friends, as you might have heard already, I had a bad accident in my rented summer house,” Jabs wrote. “I fell down the stairs with 16 steps and broke my left pinky twice and I also broke my left heel.”
After contacting “the best specialists I could find in Hamburg,” Jabs underwent surgery on both hand and foot. “Now it is time to heal and start the physical rehabilitation for a speedy recovery,” he wrote.
“I will try everthing [sic] to be able to play guitar again on stage as soon as possible,” Jabs continued.. “I am sorry to tell you, that the shows in September won´t be happening, but I am very optimistic that we will see us again very soon. Rock n Roll forever, Yours Matthias.”
