This writer would probably do the same thing to see Oasis live for the first time in over a decade! According to reports, an Oasis “superfan” who received an exclusive golden disc version of the 1995 album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? has offered to return the collector’s item to Liam Gallagher in exchange for tickets to the band’s newly-announced reunion concerts.

The Britpop icons just announced last week that they will kick off a run of 17 shows throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2025. The newly-reconciled brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher are slated to perform with each other for the first time in 16 years.

The tour is expected to also be one of the most profitable in recent history. Some estimates lean toward a gross of £400 million (almost $524 million USD).

Tickets went on sale this past weekend. Naturally, everything sold out by 7:00 pm. Many fans were disappointed after waiting hours in the online queue, only to find tickets sold out before they made it to the end of the digital line.

One disappointed fan was Anthony Lanni, who decided to use some leverage to try and get a coveted ticket to the upcoming reunion tour.

The Man Who Offered Back the Oasis Golden Disk in Exchange for Tickets

Anthony Lanni is an Oasis fan from Stevenage, England. He has recently offered to exchange his exclusive, prized gold disc version of one of Oasis’ biggest albums for tickets to the upcoming tour. It’s basically a historical piece of Oasis memorabilia. So, offering to exchange such a prized possession is a pretty big deal.

There’s a story behind the gift, too. Lanni was a wee 15-year-old in 1996 when he and his friends happened upon Liam Gallagher’s home address. They visited his home in London, much to Gallagher’s annoyance.

“He was gesticulating with his hands and then we realized he was asking us for a cigarette,” said Lanni in an interview with The Comet.

Gallagher eventually came to the door. Lanni, with the kind of bravery only found in teenagers without a fully developed frontal lobe, asked the Oasis frontman for one of the gold discs he displayed in the hallway of his home. To his shock, Gallagher said “If you don’t ask, you don’t get”, and handed Lanni the disc as a gift.

The golden disc was awarded to Oasis for selling 110,000 copies of their second album in Ireland. Gallagher then told the young Lanni do promise not to sell the album. And he hasn’t entertained the thought since. He does, however, want to give the disc back to Gallagher in exchange for tickets to one of the reunion dates in 2025.

Gallagher has not yet responded to Lanni’s request.
