Scotty McCreery Halts Concert, Blasts “Coward” Who Allegedly Hit Woman
Last Saturday (Aug. 24), Scotty McCreery took the stage at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo. However, the American Idol champ hadn’t made it through the first line of his opening song (“It Matters to Her”) when he witnessed a man in the crowd allegedly punch a woman.
McCreery, 30, was having none of that. “Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Right here, right here,” said the “Five More Minutes” singer, pointing in the direction of the incident. “That’s a lady you just hit, sir.
“Absolutely not. Who just hit the lady?” McCreery continued over the crowd’s growing rancor.
Amid chants of “Get him out!” the Grand Ole Opry member called for security to remove the man. “Is she okay? Get the heck out of here,” he said.
Incredulously, McCreery continued, “What on God’s green earth? At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doin’?”
The season 10 Idol winner urged concertgoers to let police know who had hit the woman. “Whoever you are, that’s the definition of a coward, hitting a lady,” McCreery said. He then reiterated: “Get the heck out of here.”
Video of the incident circulated on social media, where users praised the country star’s actions. “I haven’t even thought about Scotty McCreery since I was obsessed with him in 2011, but I think I just fell in love with him all over again,” one fan wrote on TikTok.
