The Eagles have covered a vast amount of topics over their tenure, but they’ve returned time and time again to one: love. Matters of the heart have always been (and likely will always be) an ever flowing source of inspiration for songwriters. The Eagles certainly have explored the topic heavily. 3 of the Best Eagles Love Songs
1. “Love Will Keep Us Alive”
Sometimes all we need in life is love. At least, that’s what the Eagles are selling in “Love Will Keep Us Alive.” Now you’ve given me the will to survive, they sing in the heartfelt chorus. It’s impossible to not get on board with the Eagles’ sugary outlook on love when listening to this track.
I was standing
All alone against the world outside
You were searching
For a place to hide
Lost and lonely
Now you’ve given me the will to survive
When we’re hungry
Love will keep us alive
2. “Try and Love Again”
“Try and Love Again” is a rousing ode to the enduring nature of love. Even in the wake of heartbreak, we can’t help but find a way to love again. The band matched that warm and fuzzy sentiment with an equally as comforting melody.
You never know what might be found there
She was dancing right in time
And the moves she made so fine
Like the music that surrounds her
Should I stay or go? I really want to know
Would I lose or win if I try and love again?
3. “Best of My Love”
“Best of My Love” had to have a spot on this list. This stunning, harmony-ridden track is one of the best Eagles songs, point blank. The band made use of their impeccable vocal abilities in this track. The swell in the chorus is akin to the feeling that bubbles up inside of us when we’re in love.
Beautiful faces and loud, empty places
Look at the way that we live
Wasting our time on cheap talk and wine
Left us so little to give
That same old crowd was like a cold dark cloud
That we could never rise above
But here in my heart
I give you the best of my love
