Meanwhile, there’s been a steady stream of solo albums from both Liam and Noel, in addition to Liam’s collaboration with John Squire from The Stone Roses.

4. “Once” from Why Me? Why Not. (2019)
Beneath all that swagger, Liam Gallagher can expertly croon tender ballads. You first heard it on “Slide Away,” Gallagher’s finest vocal performance on Definitely Maybe. On “Once,” Gallagher and producer Andrew Wyatt wrote a wistful song about the fleeting moments of childhood. Oasis fans might speculate whether Gallagher had his brother in mind when writing “Once.”
But oh, I remember how you used to shine back then
You went down so easy like a glass of wine, my friend
When the dawn came up you felt so inspired to do it again
But it turns out you only get to do it once
3. “For What It’s Worth” from As You Were (2017)
“For What It’s Worth” offers a wide-ranging apology to anyone Gallagher may have harmed. Consider this track Gallagher’s own “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” He told Vice, “Yeah, obviously I’ve made a lot of mistakes. That’s life. I guess it is an apology to whoever. I’ve pissed a lot of people off. But I’m certainly not gonna write a song for each and every one of them. There’s one there. F—in’ deal with it and move on.”
In my defense, all my intentions were good
And heaven owns a place somewhere for the misunderstood
You know I’d give you blood if it’d be enough
2. “Wall of Glass” from As You Were (2017)
Gallagher debuted as a solo artist with “Wall of Glass.” Following the end of Oasis, the singer formed Beady Eye with Oasis mates Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Chris Sharrock. However, the response, by Oasis standards, was underwhelming, and the band split after only two studio albums. “Wall of Glass” is a swinging pop song expanding Gallagher’s range beyond Britpop. Unsurprisingly, Gallagher received shots from his brother, Noel, for using a team of pop songwriters. The singer also fired off insults by calling his brother a potato. Regardless of how it was created, “Wall of Glass” is a banger.
And I don’t mean to be unkind
But I see what’s in your mind
And the stone you throw
Will turn back in its path
One day you’ll shatter like a wall of glass
1. “Everything’s Electric” from C’mon You Know (2022)
Dave Grohl co-wrote and recorded drums on this burner from Gallagher’s third solo album. “Everything’s Electric” it built for the stadium with “woo-woos” Mick Jagger would appreciate. Gallagher seemed to grow into being a solo artist with each release and C’mon You Know is his strongest Noel-less album. The track showcases that even a middle-aged Liam Gallagher is still his generation’s greatest rock star.
The city is burning
Sinking ships in the ocean
With a head full of dreams at night
Sorrow’s written the story of life
