National Dog Day: 7 Country Stars Doting on Their Dogs

The music industry can be a stressful, scary, and uncertain business to navigate, but these country music singers have learned that everything gets easier when some dog fur is applied. Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Chris Young, Riley Green, Kelsea Ballerini, and more regularly show off their pampered pooches. And is there any better time to celebrate the genre’s furbabies than National Dog Day?

Miranda Lambert might be country music’s most outspoken puppy lover. Lambert has long been passionate about animal rescue and has brought many homeless dogs she found in her travels home to stay.

This summer, Lambert lost two of them. But even in her grief, she made time to spread the word about animal rescue.

Lambert’s charity, MuttNation, supports shelters nationwide.

Lainey Wilson is doggy mama to her French bulldog Hippie Mae, who even has her own Instagram account. Wilson dresses Hippie in fringed denim and shows off the doggy designs to her social followers. Wilson even talked about Hippie recently when she explained how retreating into the activities and values she grew up with in Louisiana helps her stay centered in her whirlwind career.

“These things like writing music and doing the things that I love to do, the things that make me feel like Lainey the sister, the friend, the daughter, the girlfriend, the dog mama,” Wilson told American Songwriter. “I’ve been holding on to those things a little bit tighter, and I think when you just get down to the root of it and you hold on to the simple things, that helps you get through the hard things. And so I hope when people hit the record that they can feel that peace and comfort that it brought me during the time of my life”

Wilson’s new album, Whirlwind, is out now.

Kelsea Ballerini named her doodle Dibs after her second No. 1 single. She posts pictures of Dibs on private planes, frolicking on the beach, and hanging out by the pool, embodying the phrase, “It’s a dog’s life.”

Chris Young’s sister got him his German Shepherd, Porter, as a gift. Young, who is in the Top 10 with “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” often travels with Porter. Young’s pooch has accumulated an Instagram following of more than 76,000.

Carly Pearce has had her share of personal turmoil in recent years, but two things have been constant – her pups and her fans.

Pearce often travels with her Shih Tzus, a sibling pair named Johnny and June. The Kentucky native adopted June following her high-profile divorce. While Johnny originally lived with Pearce’s parents, he joined his fur sister at Pearce’s home. Pearce, who released her new album “hummingbird” in June, even brought her dogs to a Dolly Parton television taping where they walked the red carpet with her earlier this year.

Riley Green takes his dog, Carl the Cowboy Corgi, to everything from underwear ad photo shoots to turkey hunting to on stage. And patient Carl seems to love it all. The spotted corgi even smiles in pictures. And let’s face it, Carl has much to smile about. His doggy daddy dotes on him, takes him everywhere and close to 75,000 Instagram followers hang on his every tail wag.
Green told CMT that Carl is becoming more popular than him.

Trisha Yearwood is not only a dedicated doggy mama, but she’s also passionate about helping animals. Yearwood started her charity, Dottie’s Yard, which makes donations to animal nonprofits nationwide.
