While fans anxiously awaited the return of football since the season ended back in January, the wait is over as College GameDay kicked off the beginning of the 2024 season. For football fans, Saturday marked more than another weekend, it was the beginning of months of hard hits, highlights, and history. Going overseas to Ireland, the Flordia State Seminoles looked to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Celebrating yet another season of college football, College GameDay decided to get some help from stars like Lainey Wilson and Darius Rucker to officially kickoff the day.

Showcasing the rich history surrounding college football, Wilson and Rucker took the stage to perform “Comin’ to Your City.” But while covering the song, the video featured highlights from numerous NCAA teams like Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Oregon. And given that fans can’t get enough of College GameDay, the video also included more than enough memorable moments from the broadcast.
Lainey Wilson Gains Praise As Jelly Roll Enters College Football
Although not the first time Wilson and Rucker performed the song, fans loved the video as it was the perfect way to celebrate college football. Online fans expressed their joy for football with comments like, “The College Gameday theme just hit me. WE FINALLY BYKE BABY!!!!!!” Another person wrote, “Windows are open.College Gameday theme is playing.College Football is back.WE HAVE ARRIVED.” And if that wasn’t enough, one comment insisted, “The College Gameday theme song is already stuck in my head. I need 9AM to come now!”
While College GameDay traveled to Ireland for the first game, the crew brought more than enough American spirit to show the international audience the love and passion that comes with college football.
Outside of Wilson performing “Comin’ to Your City”, College GameDay revealed a new anthem for the broadcast featuring Jelly Roll’s “Get By.” Having shared his love for football in the past, it seems that Jelly Roll is extending his career outside of country music. And with lyrics like “show up Sunday morning looking just like last night”, “Get By” looked to be the perfect anthem for college football.
