Sean “Diddy” Combs is no stranger to legal trouble as of late. He has faced several sexual assault lawsuits in the last year. Additionally, federal agents raided multiple properties owned by Combs earlier this year. More recently, a member of the Sinaloa Cartel attempted to file a defamation suit against the hip-hop mogul seeking $666,000 in damages. This news shocked 50 Cent, a vocal critic of Combs.

50 Cent reacted to the lawsuit in a since-deleted Instagram post. “Okay, I have seen it all. WTF is going on here?” the rapper posted. The lawsuit stated that Combs used his power to damage the plaintiff’s drug business in the state of New York.
Sinaloa Cartel Member Sues Sean “Diddy” Combs
Alfredo P. Gonzalez, a member of the Sinaloa Cartel who is currently incarcerated in the Centennial Correctional Facility in Canon City, Colorado filed a lawsuit against Sean “Diddy Combs” and Bad Boy Entertainment in the Southern District of New York. He claimed the hip-hop mogul defamed him and caused him to lose valuable drug connections in New York. Gonzalez was seeking $666,000 in damages. However, Chief United States District Judge Laura Taylor Swain almost immediately dismissed the lawsuit.
According to court documents, a business associate of Combs reached out to Gonzalez saying that Combs wanted to “set up some business deals with the Sinaloa Cartel.” However, Combs and his associates weren’t in search of drugs. Instead, the suit alleges they wanted Gonzalez to traffic underage girls and boys for a party.
Gonzalez allegedly told the unnamed associate that the Sinaloa Cartel did not “sex traffic underage kids.” He continued to refuse to do so even after the business partner that Combs’ influence would keep everyone involved out of trouble.
The suit further alleges that Combs’ business partner stated that Gonzalez was making “a big mistake for not taking the offer” and that Combs would use his power to make his life “hell.” In a second phone call, the unnamed business associate said that Gonzalez could “come to the party and watch the shows they put on.” Still, he refused. As a result, the suit alleged, Gonzalez’s business partner in New York told him that he could not do business with him until he bends to Combs’ will.
The Suit Was Dismissed
Judge Swain dismissed the case stating Gonzalez has no legal standing to sue because the alleged injury stemmed from illegal activities. Additionally, Judge Swain found the suit to be frivolous in that it lacked “an arguable basis either in law or in fact.”
