Last night (August 14), Post Malone made his Grand Ole Opry debut. He split his time on the hallowed stage between performing covers and sharing songs from his debut country album F-1 Trillion. He shared the Circle with Lainey Wilson, Vince Gill, and John Michael Montgomery, among others.

Fans everywhere have been eagerly waiting for Malone’s debut country album to drop. So far, he’s released collaborations with Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton, and Luke Combs. However, that’s just scratching the surface. F-1 Trillion contains a laundry list of features from artists like Wilson, Hank Jr., Dolly Parton, and more. During his Opry debut, he and Wilson performed their track “Nosedive.”
Lainey Wilson and Post Malone Sample a Mature Moment from the New Album
So far, Post Malone’s album tracks have fallen into the aging category of bro-country. “Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen and “Pour Me a Drink” with Blake Shelton were raucous drinking songs. “Guy for That” with Luke Combs was a checklist song about heartache. “Nosedive,” on the other hand, is a little more thoughtful. So far, it’s a moment of maturity on what until recently appeared to be another sophomoric pop-country album.
“Nosedive” seems to be a song about finding the lessons and positive moments in the hard times that nearly everyone experiences. For instance, Wilson sings, I hit rock and drop the shovel / Crawl my way up past the rubble / Do my best, stay out of trouble heaven knows. / Sometimes the picture, it ain’t perfect / But there’s learnin’ in the hurtin’ / Sick of bearing all the burden / Every thorn has its rose.
